U.S.-China Business Council Asian American Youth Community Leadership Scholarship

The inaugural DMV Asian American Youth Leadership Scholarship offers awards totaling up to $10,000 to recognize outstanding contributions of Asian American youth to their communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be Asian American high school students in the DMV area.

  • Applicants must demonstrate experience and commitment to civic engagement and community service.

  • The money can be used for college or career training.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • The scholarship is designed to recognize and support Chinese American youth who are committed to making a positive impact in their communities through civic engagement, community service and innovative initiatives.

  • This can include serving on student government, organizing community events, taking on a leadership role in a club or organization, or providing volunteer work to the community.

Application Materials:

  • Resume: Should include academic achievements, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, leadership positions, and any relevant awards or honors.

  • Please submit a 500-1000 word personal statement or a 2-5 minute video describing your passion and experience in civic engagement, community service, and future goals for improving your community.

  • Two letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation can come from teachers, community leaders, or directors of voluntary organizations.

Application deadline: January 31, 2024

A panel of senior Washington University educators and community leaders conducts an impartial evaluation of the applications to select the grant winners.
